Our Story
Enliven was born in 2020 after the founder, Elise, had grown tired of always trying to prove herself as a woman in the outdoors, both recreationally and professionally. Elise decided that she wanted to build a space that would make it easier for other women to experience the benefits of outdoor adventure by launching Enliven!
Our vision is for a future where the outdoors is a more equitable space. Our mission is to get women and girls outdoors for their body, mind, soul and planet. We work towards this by inspiring, lowering barriers and creating opportunities for women to move their bodies in nature.
Through our small-group, beginner-friendly, non-competitive offerings, enliven customers feel empowered and resilient in the challenges that life throws them, while also feeling more connected with the environment and more inclined to help protect it.
Enliven currently offers guided stand up paddle boarding tours and lessons, kayaking tours and lessons, surf camps and guided bushwalking around South Australia.
Meet your guide, Elise.
I grew up in country South Australia, and my fondest childhood memories are of learning to surf and snorkel on the Yorke Peninsula and going camping with my family in the Flinders Ranges.
I’m a qualified teacher, with a double degree in Secondary Education and Health Science, majoring in physical education and geography. During my degrees, I took a year off to train to kayak across Bass Strait with a group of women. I learnt so much about group management in the outdoors and had some amazing sea kayaking expeditions that I’m proud of, all while being mentored by amazing women, and I want to pay that forward and mentor other women.
I have a Cert II in Maritime Operations, and 10 years of experience in the male-dominated outdoor industry; working as a snowboarding photographer, shark cage diving guide, snorkelling guide, bushwalking guide, high ropes instructor, school camp leader, kayaking tour guide and Stand up Paddle board instructor.
I now hold qualifications through Paddle Australia, PADI and BWLSA to instruct snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding and bushwalking, as well as holding Remote and wilderness first aid, food safety supervisor certification, CPR and mental health first aid training. I’m so passionate about helping women to find their confidence and mastering new physical skills, and I believe that the outdoors is a great medium for achieving this. I can’t wait to share the adventure with you!
See you out there! Elise x
